Hello Ryba. You speak very well. Of course, you have an accent. I noted some minor mistakes in your prepared speech.

If you care to paste it into a box on here, I will correct it for you.

Hello! I thank you, all my friends, for giving me your own time for checking my exercises.

According to Arvenius' hint I decided to prepare my speach earlier as a written text. I don't know how much room I have got for recording this exercise so I try to be more effective with my talking.

What is my favourite book, great question, because of my trying to think in two languages I feel I have got two personalities. One in English and one in Polish. From English personality I can choose Harry Poter, best book for improving English, but I don't think it is good for children. “Proud and Prejudice” by Jane Austin, excellent. I have got films, MP3 and a few text versions. More modern The Beach” by Alex Garland, but it is all in English improving direction. In the case of a more coherent my personality, I would be inclined to French literature: Dumas, Honore de Balzac, Verne. I can't forget about English language writers ,I know on both sides of Atlantic, like: Arthur Conan Doyle, Mark Twain, Jack London and with little Polish accent, Josef Conrad. Okay, probably I'll lose my face, but I have chosen “Potop” , yes “Potop” in English “Deluge”. What's it about? It is about the war between Poland and Sweden which began in 1654. What a subject? Sweden the most peaceful country all over the world for ages.Ok! What author? He is Pole, Nobel prised in 1905. I astonish you when I tell you, you know him by Robert Taylor and Deborah Kerr in film from 1951. In this film there were also uncredited Elizabeth Taylor and Sofia Loren, her first role when she was 14.This other novel of this author is one of the most often filmed all over the world. First launched in 1902 ,then three Italian version too and last Polish in 2001. You cant remember his name after cast , directors and producers. His name is Henryk Sienkiewicz.

I think you've written your own book!!!

    Very well thought out.

It was good that you prepared it rather than spoke 'off the cuff' (= with no preparation) as you were able to concentrate on your pronunciation rather than what you were going to say.

    Excellent work.

LiveMocha is telling me the text exceeds the limit, so I will add the rest of my comments here.

Ryba!  Excellent audio submission.  I have corrected your text and will read it for you.  I could only hear a few errors in pronunciation.  The rest was pure 100% Polish accent! (wink) Great Job! Congratulations!

words to practice:  inclined, novel, launched

    WHO- refers to people only

THAT and WHICH refer to animals and objects   Examples:

He is the man who wrote the book.

Sara is on the team that won first prize.

The product claiming "all natural ingredients," which appeared in the Sunday newspaper, is on sale.

In American English, the titles of books are italicized or underlined.

You have many teachers making excellent corrections so I will just say that I thought the spoken exercise was excellent and my corrections are -

inclined (in-clined - the -i- is said the same as you say the letter -i-) and the dates 1905 and (I think it was ) 1902. In English say nineteen o five and nineteen o two or nineteen hundred and five and nineteen hundred and two.

Ryba, your work is excellent; it took a lot of work!  It is  thoughtful and educational as well. I learned some interesting things that I did not know.  Your pronuciation is very good as usual. As already pointed out the second i in inclined is long, las in night. Also, the e in launched is silent so it sounds like launchd.

I look forward to your next speaking exercise!
