Grocery Shopping
Instructions: Please recite the following paragraph. Press the 'add audio submission' button to record and submit this exercise.
I needed to buy a few apples and some lettuce at
the store tonight. My shopping basket got so heavy
that I took a shopping cart instead. The clerk was
weighing a bunch of bananas for another customer
when I dropped a carton of eggs and a jug of milk
on the floor. The clerk kindly helped me clean up
the mess and get new groceries, but now they are
out of milk, so could you please buy two cartons
of milk for me at the store tomorrow?
English Speaking Exercise
apples - there is no double p sound. Say it like aples.
Lettuce - say it more like lettece and you will be closer.
Heavy - say it like hevy (the a does nothing)
cart, clerk, get, up - you add vowel sounds to the end, a very Italian habit. It doesn't really affect understanding but it makes harder to follow.
cartons, eggs - you lost the s sound at the end, it is very important for plurals.
dropped, helped - say as dropp'd, help'd (or even dropt, helpt. The e does nothing.
Very good, just a few words to work on. Watch adding a vowel sound on the end of words.
I have attached a voice file.
Ciao!
