Course 202, Unit 10, Lesson 3

Occupations

Instructions: Please recite the following paragraph. Press the 'add audio submission' button to record and submit this exercise.

I used to be a musician, but I currently work as a computer programmer. She is a doctor; she is not a nurse. He studied for six years before becoming an architect. Please choose your occupation wisely. When my brother was six years old, he wanted to become a weatherman. I would not make a good sailor because I am afraid of water. The boy is going to school to become a teacher. Why don’t you want to become a fireman?

Very good Celia.  I only picked out one word that you should listen to and practice.  Near the end you used the word 'songs', and to me it was not as clear as the rest of your talk.

Excellent! The only thing I can think of is sometimes you drop the "p" in "chipmunks"; I know that coming from Chinese, it's a bit difficult to pronounce the "pm" combination in English.

And your pronunciation is totally British, with a little bit of Australian thrown in. That sounds "strange" to me, but I know how "strange" my pronunciation sounds to British or Australian people. :-)
