    The tale:

A farmer with three of his donkeys went to the market to sell his harvest. The city was far and it would take several days to arrive. The first evening, he stops to bivouac near the house of an old hermit. When he wanted to tie his last donkey, he realize that it lacks a rope. "If I don't attach my donkey" he said, "tomorrow it will be escape in the mountains!" He climbs on his donkey , leting the other two firmly tied, and took the direction of the house of the old hermit. Arrived, he asked the old man if he wouldn't have a rope for him. The old man had for a long time made vows of poverty and had not the slightest rope, however, he turned to the farmer and said: "Go back to your camp, and each day make the gesture to put a rope around the neck of your donkey and don't forget to feign to attach it to a tree." Lost for lost, the farmer followed exactly the advise of the old man. The following day , on waking up, the first looking of the farmer was for his donkey. He was still there! After loading the three donkeys, he decided to start, but impossible to draw his donkey, push it, nothing to do. The donkey refused to move. Desperate, he returned to the Hermite and told his bad adventure. -"Have you thought about removing the rope?" he asked. -"There is no rope?!" replied the farmer. -"For you yes, but for the donkey?" The farmer returned to the camp and an ample movement, he mimicked the gesture of removing the rope. Then the donkey followed him without any resistance.

The first evening, he stopped to bivouac near the house of an old hermit. When he wanted to tie his last donkey, he realized that it lacked a rope. "If I don't attach my donkey" he said, "tomorrow it will have escaped/run off to the mountains!" He climbs on/mounts his donkey, leaving the other two firmly tied, and headed in the direction of the old hermit's house. When he arrived, he asked the old man if he had a rope for him. The old man had made vows of poverty a long time ago and didn't have any rope (could say shortest bit of rope, but it's very unnecessary), however, he turned to the farmer and said: "Go back to your camp, and each day make the gesture of putting a rope around the neck of your donkey and don't forget to pretend to attach it to a tree." For lack of a better option, the farmer followed the advice of the old man. The following day, on awaking, the farmer looked for his donkey. He was still there! After loading the three donkeys, he decided to start, but it was impossible to move his donkey, even by pushing it, there was nothing he could do. The donkey refused to move. Desperate, he returned to the hermit and told of his misadventure. -"Have you thought about removing the rope?" he asked. -"There is no rope?!" replied the farmer. -"For you yes, but for the donkey?" The farmer returned to the camp and mimicked the gesture of removing the rope. Then the donkey followed him without any resistance.

    Hi,

    The story was interesting.

However when i listened your record without reading the text, i couldn't understand some words or sentences here and there. But generally it was good. For me it's ok. Just be carefull about the sounds 'h' and the words 'arrived', 'escape', 'climbs', 'gesture'.

It was nice to write a comment for your submission for a change.

Your narrative was quite captivating and I enjoyed it tremendously. What a valuable lesson your story conveyed !

                               But

You have a big problem with the English "H" like I have with the French "R".  You must work the "H" my friend!!!

Victor, I had difficulty understanding you without the words in front of me.  Edi did an excellent job of rewriting it for you.  It seemed to me that you had the most difficulty speaking the sentences in a clear, smooth, manner with proper enunciation.  This is very difficult to learn unless one has someone to practice with.  Remember to practice the h sound.  That is a difficult sound to pronounce.  I will read Edi's reply so you can hear it.  - Mary

You never cease to amaze me. You obviously have high standards always raising the bar on yourself and others.

Place attention on the 'h' sounds. Listen to your recording again. The'H' sound in english is not as beautiful as the 'H' sound en français. It is very different and more harshly pronounced. Work on perfecting this 'h' sound when speaking english. 'h' is a pronounced exhale sound.

J'espère que cette critique est sera de vous aider.
