    Excellent.

The most popular holiday in my country is the New Year celebration. This holiday starts midnight of December, 31. Usually it is a family holiday and lasts for two days.

We call it "New Year's Day", but I don't know if that's appropriate for you, since it lasts for two days.

I only see one thing that needs some explaination in the sentence. Since some Americans also have a two day celebration for New Years it is plural with the "s" on the end. We celebrate New Year's Eve and New Year's day. There are parties the night before New Year's called New Year's eve parties and then we go to church on New Year's morning and then have a big dinner on New Year's day.

Some people in this country watch it come and go like nothing happened. :-))))))) Just another day goes by. :-) It's because some people have to work during these holidays.

I think if you were describing your holidays to Americans then you should write:  "The most popular holiday in my country is the New Year." You don't have to add anything else because everyone understands this holiday here.
