as Eric said, we learned in french class that "C'est.." is used when naming something.
(ex. C'est une femme.)
& il/elle is used when describing somthing. (like using an adjective.)
(ex. Elle est petite.)
and you probably know this but i'll add this anyway:
un = masculine (such as "a")
une = feminine (such as "a")
des = some (we'll often omit this in english, but as my teacher says, the french are article happy.)
le = masculine (such as "the")
la = feminine (such as "the")
les = plural (such as "the" but w/ plural objects - "the cats"
hopefully that helped! =]
***anyone who knows better feel free to correct me since i've only had a little experience with french (a year and a 1/2)
** gosh, you're eric! so then not eric. i mean the person above me. sorry.
