These guidelines are here to ensure a positive and smooth ride on the road to learning a new language. Here are some important things to keep in mind that will help you along the way.

Share your wisdom – this community is built on the principle of collective knowledge. Make writing and speaking submissions and give constructive criticism to help others along their path to mastering a new language. You’ve gotta give a little to get a little in this world.

Be active – be proactive in your learning experience. What makes Livemocha unique is the opportunity to really learn from one another. Meet new people, encourage one another, explore the lessons and challenge yourself.

Be nice – not all great minds think alike, and in our global community we are bound to find people with diverse ideas and opinions. Be respectful in your interactions. Post content that is appropriate – nothing obscene, vulgar, or objectionable.

Be original – always post original content and avoid claiming you have credentials or expertise that you don’t actually possess.

Don’t pollute – this site is built for personal use only. There is a reason why junk mail and spam is automatically filtered out of our inboxes, so don’t commercialize this site or use it for promoting products or services.

Other things to keep in mind…

People problems – Unfortunately, you may run into people who make you feel uncomfortable. We take this very seriously and are constantly making changes to protect your safety and to improve your experience. Don’t hesitate to report people that are acting creepy – make sure you give us their username. We will take care of these users by deactivating their account and we will keep your identity secret.
