Practice - Writing

The practice section gives you many different opportunities to learn. You can practice by yourself by submitting a written or recorded response or practice with a friend or community member. Below are some topics, questions and scripts for you to work with. [?]

To choose a topic click on the title and follow the proceeding instructions. Start by choosing the language and skill you want to practice. Choose "Dialog" to practice a script with someone, "Writing" to submit a writing sample and "Speaking" to submit a verbal sample.

Language:

My Country.
Provide a brief description of your country. What is your country’s name? What countries are north, south, east and west of your country?
Describe a Holiday
Describe a popular holiday or event in your country. What is the name of the holiday? What day is the holiday? How many days does the holiday last?
Specialty Meals in my Country.
Describe a popular meal or drink unique to your country. What ingredients are used to make this meal or drink?
Describe the Weather.
Describe today's date and weather. What is the date today? Is it hot or cold? Is it raining? What is the weather supposed to be tomorrow?
Last vacation
Where was the last place you went on a vacation? How far away is it from your home? How much did the ticket cost to get there?
Favorite restaurant
Describe your favorite restaurant in town. What is across the street from it? What is next door?
Directions
Pretend you are giving directions to a friend. Tell your friend how to get to your house from his or her house.
Time
What time is it now? What time was it fifteen minutes ago? What time was it thirty minutes ago?
Vacation transportation
When was the last time that you went on a vacation? Did you go by car, airplane or ship? Where did you go?
