By my watch it is twenty minutes past one in the morning. It is late... In 30 min it will be 10 minutes to one in the morning, 2 hours ago it was twenty minutes past eleven in the evening. or It's 20 minutes past one am. In 30 minutes it will be 10 minutes to nine am, 2 hours ago it was 20 minutes past eleven p.m. or It's 1:20 am, in 30 minutes it will be 1:50 am, two hours ago it was 1:20 pm.

Yeah, I would normally say either '1:20 am' or 'twenty past one in the morning'.
