I think most of the time "fruit" is considered a "mass noun," like "water" and used in the singular.  Some people do use it in the plural, though.

    Here
I use 'fruits' just because I remember the usage of 'fish'. When we express the meaning of 'different kind of fish', we use plural. So I think different kind of fruit should be 'fruits'.
Which one is used to express ' different kind of fruit' , the singular or plural?

    Thank you, Dancing Bear :-)

Both “fruit” and “fruits” are grammatically acceptable as the plural.  I suppose it’s a matter of individual usage or perhaps regional usage.  I always use “fruit” and that is the plural form I usually hear, with one exception.  We usually say “fruits and vegetables” as in the sentence, “we should all eat lots of fruits and vegetables.”  I live in the South.  I don’t know which form is common in the north.
