Grocery Items

The peaches are not available at the market yet. I made chicken with rice and broccoli for tonight’s dinner. Please buy some fruit, vegetables and meat at the store tomorrow. I used to love pears, but now I enjoy apples more. Why are you eating so much garlic? She grows celery, cauliflower and onions in her garden. The boy was looking at the spinach on his plate with great disgust.

I AM GOING TO show you how to make an announcement: Instead of starting with "I read a passage casually," you should have said: "I WILL read..." or "I will NOW read..." That is the general pattern when announcing something that you're about to do. Another alternative: "I am going to read..." I WILL NOW revisit a common recurring pronunciation mistake among Chinese and French speakers: "Don't hesitate!" You read it as "donne hesitate" by omitting the ending T sound. In general, be mindful of ending T/S/D sounds in English. They are critical, in order to not cause confusions. A typical case in point: worse/worst. Of course, often the ending "s" is the only indication of plural, as we lack a plural indefinite article, unlike French/Portuguese/Italian, etc. I WILL wrap this up with my overall impression and assessment: I like your calm and confident demeanor. Your reading was remarkably free of hesitations and filler sounds. Great presentation! You see? I announced something, and immediately proceeded to actually carry them out.
