Course 201, Unit 7, Lesson 1

Grocery Shopping

I need to buy a few apples and some lettuce at the store tonight. My shopping basket was so heavy that I took a shopping cart instead. The clerk is weighing a bunch of bananas for the customer. Please buy two cartons of milk for me at the store tomorrow. I dropped a carton of eggs and a jug of milk on the floor. The clerk helped me clean up the mess and get new groceries.

Just 2 words slightly off: People (65% correct) Insufficiently aspirated on both P's Often (85%) "öff-en" and "Of-ten" are acceptable As you know, P is almost always aspirated in English. Your "people" sounded a bit like "bebo" while your pronunciation of "production" and "places" was nearly flawless. Note: Non-aspirated P's (such as: spit) are very rare. Your pronunciation of the T/S/D ending and beginning R sounds are notably accurate and quite natural sounding. Bravo! Overall: Superb clarity. Nearly perfect pronunciation and excellent intonation. Very natural and pleasant sounding. Read at optimal pace for linguistic exercises. Technical: Perfect recording. Ideal volume. I think you've done an amazing job. Your remaining accent is pure charm, and no interference with communications at all. Saulius: Sorry, but your pronunciation of "va-ri-tis" and "va-ri-te" are actually incorrect. Follow Pat's pronunciation instead. She is indeed correct. Note: "Variety" and "varieties" are both 4-syllable words.
