I don't have favorite meal. ► I don't have ANY favorite mealS. ALT: I don't have a favorite meal. Rules: ► for COUNTABLE nouns: either add the word "any" and use plural; or add "a" and use singlular.) ► for UNCOUNTABLE nouns: follow the first format, but with singular noun. The 2nd alternative is not valid as the article "a" isn't allowed with uncountable nouns. I don't have any choices. I don't have a choice. I don't have any money. I don't have any envelopes. I don't have an envelope. I don't have any hair. (yes, "hair" is uncountable and always singular form in English!) A simplified generic example: I don't have any favorites/preferences. I love them all! ------ I just like so much my mother's cook. ► I just like ALL OF my mother's cookING so much. e.g. I love cheese. I love cheese so much! "cook" can be a verb or noun. As a noun, it means the person doing cooking, or a chef. "cooking" is the noun that means the resulting dishes of food. e.g. I like it when you sing (the act). I like your singing (the songs). e.g. Please record in your own voice and send me the recording. ("so much" goes to end of sentence, not right after the verb. Note: it can also go before a noun.) Therefore, "I love so much cheese" has a different meaning than you'd expect: Here, "so much" modifies "cheese" not "love" "so much cheese" = tant de fromage "love so much something" is impossible usage, unless you exercise POETIC LICENSE. Even then, you run the risk of being misunderstood. Generally, we use "love something so much." --------- I am vegetarian. ► I am a vegetarian. (just like talking about one's profession, a singular indefinite article is required.)
