Thank you Dev and every friend!
Where are your practice exercises?
You are recording many new assignments but not submitting any homework?
If you want to improve, you need to do the exercises here.
Please don't move ahead with new speaking exercises until you have mastered the points I am asking you to improve.
Thanks.
Mike
I want to practice this exercise again after listened from your recording. I have done my homework every week. I just could not finish my exercise Dialog, Dialog also is a part of the homework, I could not practice the conversation Dialog because I did not have a partner to help me, I asked many friends, no one has time to help. I still have a few Dialogs have not finish yet.... I still hope any friend can help me.

Actually, I have given you many exercises to do. I am talking about the speaking exercises to strengthen and improve your speech. That is the 'homework' which I am referring to. I need to hear how you are doing in order to know if you are doing the exercises properly.
I really had listened many times from your recordings, but I still can not understand what you said in the recorder, I am sorry! Can you speak and also write on there too?
Thank you very much!
Thank you for all your help!

I am sorry for I made a mistake in the last comment, in your three speaking comments here, I just can not understand the first one only, I can understand the other two speak the lesson's comments of you. I have listened many times to follow the English sound from you. Every speaking or writing comment is very precious to me, I always look and listen over and over.
Thanks!
The man is tall. He is a manager. The woman is a housewife. She is young. The boy is a student. He is smart and a hard worker. The girl is young and pretty. you are talking on the phone. I am learning English.
/d/ at the end of words is not strong enough.
Make it stronger in the words which start and end with /d/
eg Down Old Duck Do Don't Did
Slow down when you speak.
You need to slow down up to 30-40%
In this exercise you can learn to slow down.
You need to make the vowels longer - much longer.
This exercise will teach you to connect the end of every syllable to the beginning of the next syllable. This is a key skill for you to produce smooth speech.
Don't worry too much about the reason for the exercise. Just do it. It will improve your speech automatically.
Please work on the /d/ sound
You are saying /an/ instead of /and/
Your Homework
Practice "Donald Duck" 5 times or more for a few days - make the d very strong and loud.
Then record an audio comment here.
Cheers,
Mike
Yes, I will do my homework in here as you tell.
Really thank you!
Ngoc
old, cold, read, road, find, found, Donald Duck
The /d/ sound is too soft at the end of words.
You need to correct this problem immediately before moving on.
Please try the following exercises
Practice these then Read and Record them:
/t/, /d/, /t/, /d/, /t/, /d/
ant, and, ant, and, ant, and
old,bold,cold,sold,mold,told,scold
good, would, should, could
food, mood
word, herd, bird
Please record here as an audio commnet
Cheers,
Mike
ant, and, ant, and, ant, and
old,bold,cold,sold,mold,told,scold
good, would, should, could
food, mood
word, herd, bird
I'm glad you are taking on the challenge of learning these sounds.
What you recorded was supposed to be this:
/t/, /d/, /t/, /d/, /t/, /d/
ant, and, ant, and, ant, and
old,bold,cold,sold,mold,told,scold
good, would, should, could
food, mood
word, herd, bird
What it sounded like was this:
/ch/, /d/, /ch/, /d/(too soft), /ch/, /d/
anch, and(good /d/), anch, and(good /d/), anch, and (good /d/)
old,bold,cold, (These were good)
(but all the rest are TOO SHORT)
sol-le,mol-le,tol-t,scot
goot, woot, shuut, coot
foot, moot
wardt, hart, bart
These words all have a Beginning(the consonant), a middle (the vowel) and then an end (the consonant).
You need to practice saying them in 'slow-motion' so that the vowel gets much more time.
Make is 2 or three times longer (Then it would be normal length). BUT...
you should practice 4 to 8 times longer to get it into your mind that your REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY need to slow down and lengthen the vowels when you speak English.
for example...
Make IT TWO or three times longer (Then it would be closer to normal length). BUT...
ant, and, ant, and, ant, and
old,bold,cold,sold,mold,told,scold
good, would, should, could
food, mood
word, herd, bird
That's really great. You've got the d-sound
Now it's time to work on the t-sound....
/t/, /sh/, /t/, /sh/, /t/, /sh/
/t/, /ch/, /t/, /ch/, /t/, /ch/
tee tai taw too
tai taw too tee
taw too tai tee
too tee tai taw
Look forward to hearing your recording
regards,
Mike
I am very happy to got you say I've got the "d" sound. But I know that I still have a lot have to continue following the pronunciation from you. Right? If you don't mind, I would like to record many recording again. Thank you very much!
