Countries of the World

I am going to Japan next year. I am going there for my friend's wedding. The airport is in Tokyo, but the wedding is in Kobe. We will go by train from Tokyo to Kobe. The trip takes about five hours. After the wedding, we will go to Osaka by subway for a party. The wedding guests come from all over the world: from China, India, the U.S., Canada, and even Mexico. Of course, many guests will be from Japan.

Try not to run the sentences together, please.  Leave a little space between sentences, and slow down a little.  Otherwise, good.

Very good.  You had little trouble with the pronunciation of the "guests"  If you go to this link and click on the speaker icon you will hear the pronunciation of the word: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/guest

You will have to cut and paste the link because livemocha does not allow you to link directly.

The only other comment I would like to make is that your reading would sound more native like if you did not speak so quickly.  English uses a lot of pauses and intonation of the voice when one speaks or reads.

I hope these comments help.  Keep up the great work.

Good job!  But slow down so you can "work" on your pronunciation.  I do the same when I have to read in Spanish.

    Keep up the god work!

Real good.  Pause after each sentence.  In "Guest" the u is silent; g is a hard sound.

This is excellent! Very good work. One tip to make it sound more like a native speaker would be to combine the first two sentences since they both start with 'I am' so that it reads like this:

'I am going to Japan next year for a friend's wedding.'

Since the third and fourth sentences are so closely related you could also combine them like this:

'We will go by train from Tokyo to Kobe; the trip takes about five hours.'

The semicolon (;) is used in place of a period when two sentences are very closely related. It isn't necessary to combine the third and fourth sentences, but it adds variety in the types of sentences, which adds style.

Again, fabulous work. Good luck with your studies!

It was old submission.  I think your firends give you very good comments...you can slow down and try to speak it with different intonation.  Why I like speaking English is because it has very nice intonation when we speak.  It's my goal to learn it like a native speaker.  Keep it up!!

    Theatrical English version.....
Could say "I'm going to..." - its more colloquial.
(Do not repeat in next sentence - its a stylistic eyesore - sorry!)
"airport is in Tokyo, AND the airport is in Kobe" (fact that Narita is Tokyo does not suggest that wedding should also be in same city!)
Could say: "we will take a train between the two cities" (you already said which ones!)
    ..the rest is fine.
    Sehr gut!
